Brother MFC-J475DW Printer

Post by Stargaser » Wed Aug 21, 2019 9:44

When I boot the Sabayon 1903 disk into live mode my Brother MFC-J475DW printer works great but when I install Sabayon from the disk my printer doesn't work. I am having trouble understanding why this is so. Can someone enlighten me? Thanks.

Try using CUPS to configure your printer instead of the system settings. I've had it work with my brother network printer when the printer settings wouldn't work.

Open a browser and go to http://localhost:631/ and use the interface provided there.

Actually I figured out how to get it installed using Brother's install script along with the Brother printer Wiki page and manually creating the needed folders and moving the ppd file. I just thought it strange that the live mode had the printer working by default but once the os was installed it had no drivers. By the way the Brother printer wiki page is not quite correct but is close. Thanks for the reply, Stupot.

No problem. Printers are screwy. But that's not exactly a linux thing, just how printers be.
