Emerge - Recommendations [Solved]

Post by willianholtz » Thu Apr 18, 2019 0:13

Hello, look at me here again :)
Guys, I'd like to know the recommended way to use emerge. My idea is to only use in some packages, I do not want to use to upgrade the system, far from it. Just use to install some packages that I believe will look better on my machine.

What would be the commands to make it work 100% in conjunction with entropy?

Have a look at the two Sabayon Linux Wiki articles regarding mixing Entropy and Portage: https://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?titl ... Management

I followed the tutorial, but could not proceed for lack of a command.
eix-sync -a

And also, give me the message that there is no make.conf file.

Code: Select all

arch=$(uname -m | sed -e 's/x86_64/amd64/' -e 's/i.86/x86/')
# mv /etc/make.conf /etc/portage/make.conf.$arch
# cd /etc/portage
# ln -s make.conf.$arch make.conf
What should I do?

I made a new installation with the minimum iso, and I just installed LAYMAN. And it worked perfectly as I wanted.
This is the tip for anyone who wants to use emerge to compile some packages.
