I have two AMD-ATI boards. But only the onboard is in use...

In one of my comps,i have two video boards, both are AMD-ATI, see:

Code: Select all

$ lspci | grep -e VGA -e 3D
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] RS880 [Radeon HD 4250]
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Cedar [Radeon HD 5000/6000/7350/8350 Series]
I'm using the driver free, xf86-video-ati. 3D accel is working, but the system only using my small "onboard" card, slot PCI is 01:05.0

However, my monitor is pluged in my offboard video card...

i want to activate the "major" card, the off board..... the slot PCI is 02:00.0, but this is not activated...

With other Command:

Code: Select all

# lspci -k | grep -A 2 -i "VGA"
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] RS880 [Radeon HD 4250]
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. M5A88-V EVO
        Kernel driver in use: radeon

02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Cedar [Radeon HD 5000/6000/7350/8350 Series]
Subsystem: XFX Pine Group Inc. Cedar [Radeon HD 5000/6000/7350/8350 Series]
        Kernel driver in use: radeon
I see that both my boards are using the Driver Radeon (free driver)

when i modify the xorg.conf file to change the board, example, modify this:

Code: Select all

Section "Device"
  Identifier "ATI Video"
   driver "radeon"
I ADDED THIS TO CHANGE THE DEFAULT BOARD : BusID "PCI:02:00.0"
  Option "SwapbuffersWait" "false"
EndSection
I have no more X...

How to change the ATI board to "Cedar [Radeon HD 5000/6000/7350/8350 Series]" and use the same driver?
