Possible Return of Compiz and Compiz Fusion?

Post by albfneto » Wed Jul 04, 2018 1:32

I have in mind that Compiz is deprecated in Gentoo.

Problably because of this, it is no more exists in Entropy.

However, Compiz is beautiful and many people like it. See, for example, this Bug:

https://bugs.sabayon.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5626

I ask about the possibility of "return" Compiz and Compiz-Fusion to Sabayon. I request the packages in the Bugzilla, for the Community Repositories:

https://bugs.sabayon.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5659

I seen that Compiz still exists in the Funtoo Distro, and in the Overlays "gentoo-zh" and "Unity-Gentoo":

https://gpo.zugaina.org/unity-base/compiz
https://gpo.zugaina.org/x11-wm/compiz

I also found it in the form of "Compiz-Reloaded" :

https://github.com/compiz-reloaded
https://github.com/kajzersoze/compiz-reloaded-overlay
https://gitlab.com/compiz

Is it possible to recompile Compiz for Entropy or for the Community Repositories?

Only in community repos if possible. Not in main repo. We strictly follow Portage.
