The thing that drawn my attention was the first Sabayon update+upgrade when all the locales commented out in /etc/locale.gen and rigo presented me a diff.
Then my trouble started, I believe.

Hello, I've re-installed glibc, so it rebuilt the locales and now the error message disappeared.
I consider it fixed, but...
... I have issued localectl set-locale commands and was set accordingly.
Then, I've tried to re-issue localectl set-locale commands in order to set the locales back to en_US.utf8. It never set them again. I have used export commands and seems to work, as locale command returns what I've set, now.
Weird. Bug?

Now, the console resolution remains to be fixed.

I've tried that, seems to not work/ignored. No error found, no output from the command.

So, I have not managed to get working localectl set-locale LANG="<your-locale>". I have used export and seems to work. Still, Firefox lost the spelling, it complains about every word, but is unable to propose any correction. To me sounds like there is some internal error that makes it think the words are misspelled.

Firefox 61 dictionary also broke for me. But my systems locale has no problems.

Code: Select all

[email protected] ~ $ localectl
   System Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8
       VC Keymap: us
      X11 Layout: us
I think there's a dictionary issue with Firefox 61, see https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepo ... bug=900469
https://forum.manjaro.org/t/fixed-firef ... ng/46838/2

Seems like something to do with hunspell. I haven't spent enough time tracking it down to say anything definitively, but I don't think Firefox 61 is a good source to confirm if your locale settings are correct at the moment.

Probably, there are also dictionary add-ons for firefox here, some claiming to be official, like the English United States Dictionary by Mozilla one.
I didn't install it yet, I wait.

Mine seems OK too:

Code: Select all

localectl status
   System Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8
       VC Keymap: us
      X11 Layout: us,ro
     X11 Variant: ,

Yeah, I installed those dictionaries in the first link to no avail.
