Missing /usr/kde/[...]/kdm/themes/Sabayon after update.

Postby hardtarget » Sun Mar 15, 2009 6:21

Hello,

I recently updated to 4.1 (via Entropy, ran it like 20 minutes ago), and rebooted. When my system came back up, it complained that it was missing this file/directory:

Code: Select all
/usr/kde/3.5/share/apps/kdm/themes/Sabayon

Sure enough, I went to /usr/kde/3.5/share/apps/kdm/themes/, and there was no 'Sabayon' directory/file. Does anyone know why this might have gone missing, and if there's a way I can restore it? Thanks!

Had same problem on one of my desktops and notebook, but not on my main desktop which has KDE 4.2 installed.

I installed KDE 4.2.1 using spritz onto the other systems, which did fix the /usr/kde/3.5/share/apps/kdm/themes/Sabayon problem.

Please note after I installed KDE 4, two new users have appeared in the login window (nx and proftpd) hiding these in Login Manager (running KDE 3.5) does not hide them. Have not figured out how to hide these under KDE 4 as I'm not to concerned about nx and proftpd at the momement.

For original theme Sabayon:

Image

to extract the tar on the desktop, to copy the folder in → /usr/kde/3.5/share/apps/kdm/themes

For original theme login Lines :

to extract the tar on the desktop, to copy the folder in → /usr/kde/3.5/share/apps/ksplash/Themes.

In order to change the color of the Login in red, you follow this guide:

Ok, it looks like the upgrade to KDE 4.2.1 resolved it, but for some reason, when I start my session, it still is using 3.5.10. How do I tell it to use the newly installed 4.2.1?

Nevermind, I need to learn how to RTFM :-).

I noticed some of the windows don't look quite right (like Firefox), but I will keep playing and see if I can get it sorted out. Thanks!

Opened as bug 597:
http://bugs.sabayonlinux.org/show_bug.cgi?id=597
Short summary (response from Ian "Thev00d00" Whyman):
The artwork packages got split, the 4.1 core and gnome art was pushed
(sabayon-artwork-gnome and sabayon-artwork-core) before the updated skel and
kde artwork were done (sabayon-artwork-kde and sabayon-skel).

It should be done soon, kdm3 artwork will be in sabayon-artwork-kde3 and kdm4
in sabayon-artwork-kde4 respectively.

Yes, do
i had the same problem and some people here, in this Forum and in the Italian Site Sabayonmania.
is a small bug that will be fixed in some days....

In my installations of Sabayon, this is a solved problem, after normal updates with Entropy. The Login Screen was substituted by the Login Screen of the Sabayon Lite.
