entropy updates too many things [Solved]

Postby gowger » Fri Mar 13, 2009 16:26

Hi all,

I would like to know why entropy seems to be so much more eager than portage to download updates to packages that don't seem to be related to the one I want to install. Is it possible to tell entropy to be a bit more conservative? I have poor bandwidth. :-(

for example:

Code: Select all
duet Trunk # equo install --ask kdesvn

what's all this driver business? and imagemagick ? and qt?

and portage:

Code: Select all
duet Trunk # ea kdesvn

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Two different worlds, two different set of rules.

Well fair enough, and for the record I tried the portage one first, it failed

So I used entropy, it probably took about the same amount of time anyway, given the lack of compiling and it worked perfectly, and I now have a more up to date system. :-D

Yes two different worlds. I appreciate many aspects of both. I hope we manage to keep portage and entropy in harmony.
