MP5 audio/video format software ?

Post by WarraWarra » Wed Mar 04, 2009 10:40

Any idee if there is mp5 convert software around on any OS as I see the MP5 audio/video hardware manufacturing is coming to the end of it's live and MP6 audio/video hardware is about to become new standard.

Maybe I am searching for the wrong thing or in the wrong language.
Surely if the hardware is almost end of life there must be software to convert it with.

I guess with audio format software you mean the aac format?
You can use FAAC as a commandline tool. But the implemted aac codec isnt that good.
I heard something about a quite good free aac+ coder called mp4tools, but I didn't try and find out more about it.

http://www.nero.com/eng/technologies-aac-codec.html
This is a free aac, aac+ and aac++ coder by nero. As far as I know aac++ is the best known audio compression method these days.
