pdftk & libgcj.8.so

Postby ignition » Fri Feb 13, 2009 14:06

Hello,

I used pdftk before on sabayon 3.5 and it is a wonderful program for manipulating pdf-files. Unfortunately, at this moment, pdftk-1.41 is not working. I switched to sabayon 4 x86_64 with the latest updates and installed pdftk using spritz. When I try to start the program it returns:

Code: Select all
pdftk: error while loading shared libraries: libgcj.so.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I googled already but could not find a solution yet.

Thanks.

equo libtest
equo deptest

If this is not fixing busted dependancy's or unhappy libs then do a source code install or emerge.

Might even try emerge --deep just in case some far fetched deps is missing.

Have a look at empty tree option in emerge and then buildpkg as this should show at least all the dependancies.

Thanks WarraWarra for your reply.

Did already the libtest, deptest. deptest says there is a missing link, but does not repair anything. I tried the emerge -D but than emerge wants to emerge 29 packages and wants to downgrade portage to version 2.1.6, which I don't like. To avoid these things I tried to emerge pdftk-1.12, but same result. That's why I tried something else, which worked for me: pdfjam. It does what I want and it was an easy emerge...

Thanks again.

Three years passed and I`ve just encountered this bug about missing libgcj in pdftk :(. I filed the entry for bugzilla, maybe someone is going to fix it at last: https://bugs.sabayon.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3060
