Server advice needed.

Postby WarraWarra » Sun Feb 08, 2009 21:16

Problem:
If you are forced to make use of any verson of freebsd / debian / fedora / centos or ubuntu server distro's to admin a server what would you use version and distro and why.

I might be in a situation like this and will need to choose one of them and get back up to speed / learn how again.
Will end up bin compiling on it for SL in guest later on.

Host Distro is mostly to keep server stable and running and provide host enviroment for SL

Suggestions
What and why you would use any of them pro's and con's.

I use gentoo stable for servers as a preference, if not then rhel/fedora/centos, then debian.

All stable, gentoo obviously lets you tailor more, redhat is well supported and debian is well, debian =D
