256gb and 512gb ssd laptop hd's for anyone ?

Post by WarraWarra » Tue Dec 23, 2008 3:12

Just thought this might be interesting for laptop owners.

Yes 256gb ssd and 512gb ssd ram chip type hd's for laptops reaching speeds close to 200MB/s

Finally raid and above speeds in any old sata laptop, just need to become less redicilously priced.

PS> note 90MB/s write depending on partition ext3 reifser type will do about 45MB/s , faster than most laptop hd's can read at this stage. "noatime"
Some bios might need updating to fix lag problems and some OCZ drives has major issues / defects. So choose wisely.

32gb at newegg for $70 and better than normal 7200rpm 2.5" drive speeds yeah baby.

Space ???
Can install SL on this and then use current hd via usb as backup. Should be fun.

PS> does this hd's / ssd come with battery's or does it loose the info once disconnected ??

SSD's do not require a battery to retain data.
