ventriloctrl reads devices in console term, but not a VT

Post by doom0r » Fri Sep 26, 2008 5:52

Hi all,

Love this project, it's like Gentoo for the short on time, plus extra detail.

Anyways, I'm using 3.5 installed and I've setup Ventrilo in Wine which works fine, except of course TTS and PTT outside the environment. So, to take care of PTT, I've come across ventriloctrl. Using it has brought up an oddity which I'm not sure where to start looking to answer.

Use-case implies that successful interaction with /dev/input/event* from the program was accomplished while in term emulators. I've had no such luck, but the thing that confuses me is the program can read the devices perfectly from a console terminal.

If anyone has any suggestion on where to start looking to resolve this issue, I'm listening. I have no idea if this is an issue with config of the emulator, something KDE or an X input daemon might be messing with, or what. If links, more info is needed, I'll provide tomorrow, falling asleep and have to work in morn.

EDIT: I checked and the same happens in Gnome, so I'm guessing it has something to do with X handling inputs. Still hoping for suggestions :|
