Oracle 10g XE or Oracle 10g Personal or Oracle 11g.

Postby ssadhale » Sat Aug 23, 2008 18:53

Hi I am new to Sabayon and trying to figure out how to install certain types of softwares. I am looking for installing Oracle 10g personal edition or even XE edition. Oracle 11g will also be fine. But I am not getting any help. Does anyone know how to install any of these? I would be glad to get any help. Thanks.

try and use spritz to install any of these programs (the program name is after the star). If that doesn't work, open a terminal and type "sudo emerge <packagename>"

Best of luck,

Thanks for the help but when I tried doing what you suggested ... I get the following ... not sure whats happening??? How do I unmask if I have to ... please specify the command.

!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "dev-db/oracle-xe" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- dev-db/oracle-xe-10.2.0.1_p1-r1 (masked by: corruption)

Many thanks in advance.

are you using POD (CD) or 3.5 (DVD)?

If you're using 3.5 (DVD), then type in "emerge --sync && layman -S" as root to fix that.
