Cannot empty folder from trash [Solved]

Postby william4 » Fri Aug 15, 2008 17:24

I have a strange problem. I am using Sabayon 3.5. I sent a large folder to the trash can and now I cannot delete it from the trash. When I try to do that I get the response "error removing file:permission denied" This seems to apply to every file in the folder. When I sent additional files to the trash can, I could delete those as usual. I have his problem on two different laptops, where I downloaded the same folder and then wanted to empty the trash can.

I thought the obvious solution would be to log on as root, but then I cannot find the users trash cans. I can only find the root's trash can. The same thing when I used parted magic to look at every file on all my partitons: the users trash can is not shown anywhere, not even under the hidden files. Any suggestions on how I can get rid of such stubborn folders?

I think you'll find them in .local/share/trash in your home directory.

Thanks, dunsurfin, for that path. With that I could remove it as root.
