Yep here I go again

DO NOT like to read and NEED to install Thunderbird - DID I or didn't I??? it was a little confusing after Synaptic in another distro

So if possible PLEASE some help before this goes on ALL THREE systems

On the install I deleted ALL Linux Partitions and went straight to the install - do NOT know where this has left me as BEFORE I had a / partition a /home and a swap partition so do not know if I need to do this all over again and it was a KDE istall

Please excuse the delay as I FINALLY found this post on another computer of mine not the one with 3.5 on it

Have received the help needed to use Spritz etc and have installed Thunderbird too

My query with Sabayon taking over the Linux Partitions was intended to find out if this was OK or do I need a /, /home and Swap partition as I do in PCLinuxOS

Because as of now I may Sabayon on all three computers once I look at Printers especially the HP 9800's compatability

I run a / and swap only on my installs - I keep backups on an entirely different drive

You are free to make as many partitions for your system as you want tho. Some like to do /boot and /home

Sabayon is now being installed on the new AMD 4600+ with /, /home and Swap BUT --->>> I never do backups linux or that other operating system hehehe

Lappy is GOING to be TOTALLY Linux so where Sabayon stands with wireless detection is a little unsure for me as I need it to detect automatically as it did the Lan on Deskies

I'm in the "some" group; I like to have four separate partitions: /boot, /, /home and swap.

There was a debate about having a separate /home partition in the following thread:

I never though I needed a /boot as Sabayon gave me ther iopportunity to boot windows too

What am I missing here

you don't need a /boot it's an optional thing, but 100mb is what is recommended if you do do a boot.

A /boot will not effect other operating systems as far as grub is concerned. Grub is the boot manager, /boot is a directory for your grub and kernel files.
