Ebuild Maintainers Wanted

Postby wolfden » Thu Mar 20, 2008 3:32

If anyone is interested in being an ebuild maintainer for the overlay, please respond or send me a pm. We need people good with svn and ebuilds to help maintain packages in the overlay. Ebuild, Trust and SVN knowledge is a must.

Job functions will be making sure ebuilds are current and working properly. lxnay will have all final says, but he is generally pretty good to work with. lxnay is busy with entropy project and we don't want our overlay to fall behind and than lxnay can stay more focused on the binary packages.

You can contact me(wolfden), joost, c0nvict, or lxnay. Remember now, if you contact lxnay, you are going to have a delay in response as he is very busy, so I would suggest one of the others as we are readily available for the most part. We also have a channel on freenode irc called #Sabayon-dev to find one of us. It's generally quiet in that channel, but if you hang out there long enough, you will catch one of us there.

We look forward to your help.

I'm fairly new to ebuilds, but I've been getting some practice in lately with customizing and making my own ebuilds. I've found them to be pretty much straight-forward. Using svn for checking files in and out is not problem.

But I have to confess I'm confused when you refer to "Trust" knowledge. If I have to ask, does that make me ineligible?

Well when you give someone write access to the overlay you have to be able to trust that person. PM me if you are still confused.

In your first post, you make Trust sound like an application or something. That's the impression I got as well.
