Media player with background option?

Post by ditchmagnet » Wed Feb 20, 2008 14:29

i was just wondering if there is any media player for sabayon that can display as the background. i was looking for an easy "dreamscence" alternative to whole xwinwrap setup.

i could use bsplayer in XP and just select "desktop" and it would play my movie as the background, but i dont know of any other software to do this for linux. any ideas?

Are you in KDE or Gnome? I can do it in gnome (sorta), but not in KDE - in both, the first thing you have to do is get rid of the background-drawing feature - I'm afraid that that is part of the base kde application, so I'm not sure if you can get around that. In gnome, just set nautilus not to launch at start and then set any fullscreen application in its place - I got it to work with my screensaver.
