Problem with Broadcom bcm43xx in x86_64 3.4f

Postby sinfante » Sun Nov 25, 2007 9:44

Hello everybody,

I installed Sabayon 3.4f x86_64 in my laptop (HP Pavillion dv6000 series). Everything seems to be working fine but the WiFi conection. It looks like the installation program detected the correct card and automatically configured ndiswrapper to use the BCM43xx, but it's not working. The interface is up, but i noticed that the Mac address displayed by ifconfig is different to the one displayed in the OS originally installed in the laptop. The first two bytes are wrong, in the OS previously installed is 00-1a-73-5b-da-0e and the mac displayed by ifconfig os 00-00-00-1a-73-5b. Does anybody have any idea how to solve this?

Problem solved...

The module included with the distribution (bcm43xx) is not working properly. I downloaded version 4.1.15.5 of the broadcom wlan windows drivers (includes the 64 bit driver) and installed it in ndiswrapper, it works perfect now, it picks the correct mac address.

Cheers!
