In the sb blacklist file the format looks to be: blacklist ipv6

Did you look in /etc/modules.d/ to see if there is an ipv6 module in there? If there is an ipv6 module then we can try to block it in the /etc/modules.d/aliases by uncommenting the following line:

# alias net-pf-10 off # IPv6

by removing the "#" symbol from the start of the line.

I don't know why after a fresh install of sb 3.4f, that you would have ipv6 & I don't?

Perhaps someone who does know will explain it to us?

There is no ipv6 module in /etc/modules.d/

I tried uncommenting the alias line anyway, but it didn't have any effect (as expected)

Edit: I figured it out. Sabayon apparently doesn't use the alias, blacklist, etc. files directly on their own -- after adding the blacklist ipv6 line to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist I had to run update-modules. After rebooting, ipv6 is no longer active. :)

Though, that still doesn't explain why I had it after a fresh install and you didn't...

Good to hear that you finally got a result! :-)

Has this solved your problem?

I do not understand why ipv6 is not a module & blacklisted by default in all linux distro's, at least until the day comes when ipv6 is being used by reasonable proportion of the public at large.
