Share printer with WIN

Post by myth » Mon Nov 12, 2007 19:09

Hi ppl....i'm finally back to Sabayon!

But now i have a problem sharing my laserjet 4 with the other WinXP computers here at home.

When i try to install the printer on one of the pc's, i become a message like: " No pronter Drivers found on >sabayon_xyz<"

How can i put the windows drivers on my Sabayon (3.4f)?

Greetings
MyTh

I'm assuming you have the Laserjet 4 connected to the SL box, and you want to print to it from networked Windows PCs using Samba? First, if you have not done it already, you need to install the Linux CUPS driver for the Laserjet 4 on the SL PC using the CUPS Printer Manager: http://localhost:631/. Then use the HP CD that came with the Laserjet 4 (or download the Windows driver from the HP Web site) to install the Windows driver on each Windows PC. Then you need to look in the file /etc/samba/smb.conf and make sure the Windows Workgroup name is correct and that printing from the Windows PCs is allowed.
