Splix (a Samsung Printer Language interpreter) has finally reached its stable stages and is just what a number of us need.
In order to further sabayon's goal of supporting as many devices as practical, I think this package is more than useful. For a distfile of a paltry 33kB, it adds CUPS support for most modern Samsung printers.
After installing splix, getting cups to recognise the printer is a simple matter of accessing http://localhost:631 , clicking "add printer" and selecting the printer access method (USB, LPT etc) from a list.
This has helped me install my printer in less than 60 seconds or so, and is far better than the clunky, multi-platform linux binary installer samsung distributes from their website.
I hope this of benefit to the sabayon effort.
