compiz 0.6 is out

Postby velk » Sun Oct 21, 2007 18:38

This is the first stable release of Compiz Fusion[1], the result of more
than six months of work and polish. This stable release is based on
Compiz Fusion 0.5.2, released on the 13th of August. This release is meant
to be used with compiz 0.6.2.

the question is : is it safe to update now and how to do it without problems?

ok, i ve updated, compiz is ok but i have problems

- i have to launch compiz-start with console
- emerald theme not working anymore, i actually use kde windows decorator
- compiz settings have changed, so i need to reconfigure it

So maybe it is a good idea to wait a little bit before updating.

ok wolfden, so for the noobs it would be emerge -av ....?
and would you have to uninstall 0.5.2 or any other version that is on the machine?
WINDOWS: Buy it, use it, break it, fix it, trash it, melt - upgrade it, charge it, pawn it, zoom it, press it, snap it, write it, get it, paste it, save it, load it, check it, plug it, play it, burn it, rip it, drag and drop it - stop. format it.

i have to say sorry for the second time in only a few days, wolfden. i, the not so experienced gentoo- and linux-user, didn't realize that you refer to this version.
i followed your how-to sometime ago and everything works fine.

i will wait...

if you have the dev version than you are newer than 0.6 so you are good to go, no need to worry about 0.6

after realizing the things mentioned above and a little bit of using my brain (which is tired after 13 hours of standing in the kitchen of a restaurant("koch" means "cook" in german)) i know now.

thanks

oops, i think i miss something :?

since september, i use 0.5.2 and used the method of this thread : viewtopic.php?f=53&t=9882

but now compiz moved to 0.6.2 in portage (try emerge --search compiz) and fusionicon and lot of stuff
arent available any more from emerge on my machine

if i run fusionupade.sh merge , the script die

Calculating dependencies |
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "compiz-fusion".
