HP PSC 2175: scanner works only with root

Postby el777 » Fri Sep 21, 2007 19:32

Hello!

I like much Sabayon - it's very amazing and interesting product!
But I have some problems making it work 100%.
After installing latest hplip driver (big thanks to Fabio ;-) i can print and scan images.
But only root have access to scanner: if I run xsane from usual user it can't find a scanner, also gimp runned cannto acquire image.
I tried to run saned - but it gives nothing.

May be I have to use some additional drivers or programs-wrappers for scanner?

Thanks' a lot.

I also use the PSC 2175 -- works good
I've noticed that on the new hplip driver that you no longer have to
Code: Select all
/etc/init.d/hplip start

- or -
Code: Select all
rc-update -a hplip default

I just downgraded to one that you still have to do the above because I also was having trouble with the scanner
plus the older driver works fine
