Trying to Emerge MythTV...getting "File not found" [Solved]

Post by graefen » Wed Sep 19, 2007 15:29

I'm a relative newbie at Linux. I've used it some on web servers for a while, but have been wanting to build a MythTV box and decided to finally just do it. I came across Sabayon and fell in love with it, and decided to try to build a MythTV box on top of it! When I tried using Portato to emerge MythTV, it successfully installed the first five dependencies (and I've emerged other software successfully), but when it tries to download the MythTV package itself, all it gives are "file not found" errors for all the mirrors. I thought it might just be a problem with the latest release of MythTV, so I tried emerging the previous release, but it gives the same errors. Any ideas as to what's going on here?

When did you sync last? - Perhaps the package you want is outdated and thus cannot be found anymore on the servers.

Ah...I did not know that synching was necessary, but it makes sense. I've clicked the sync menu item in Portato and it's synching now. I'll let you know if that fixes things. Thanks!

Trying to Emerge MythTV...now I'm getting build errors

Post by graefen » Wed Sep 19, 2007 22:23

Ok, that fixed the "file not found" problem. I synched, then it said to update Portage, so I emerged Portage, then I re-synched, just to be sure (it was at that time that I saw the "please only sync once a day" message...whoops! :oops: Now I chose the most recent package of MythTV to emerge, but it gave me errors. Here's the error message:

* MythTV requires Qt to be built with mysql and opengl use flags enabled.
* Please re-emerge =x11-libs/qt-3*, after having the use flags set.
*
* ERROR: media-tv/mythtv-0.20.2_p14472 failed.
* Call stack:
* ebuild.sh, line 1670: Called dyn_setup
* ebuild.sh, line 719: Called qa_call 'pkg_setup'
* ebuild.sh, line 44: Called pkg_setup
* mythtv-0.20.2_p14472.ebuild, line 97: Called die

I'm not sure how to proceed here...being a newbie and all.

MythTV requires Qt to be built with mysql and opengl use flags enabled.
Please re-emerge =x11-libs/qt-3*, after having the use flags set

It's telling you exactly what to do

I would just add to your /etc/make.conf mysql and opengl to your USE flags and reinstall qt

while your there might as well make sure you have qt3 qt4 qt3support gtk sdl gif there also

Thanks for the help, I've added the flags and am emerging qt 3.3.8-r4 right now.

Unfortunately, being a newbie, I don't know how to do what it's telling me. For example, when it says, "MythTV requires Qt to be built with mysql and opengl use flags enabled," I don't fully know what that means...I know enough to know that I probably have to edit a .conf file somewhere and do something afterward, but since it doesn't give more explicit instructions, I don't have any way of knowing which file and where it is. None of the configuration files are anything similar to Windows, which I'm familiar with, so I don't know where anything is located in the filesystem. I'm learning, though!

I'll post back how this turns out.

Trying to Emerge MythTV...it seems to have worked!

Post by graefen » Fri Sep 21, 2007 14:51

It seems to have worked! I haven't tried running it yet, but I still have to get more hardware before the box is finished, so I'll come back for more help if I need it. Thank you very much for your help!
