emerge Problems!

Hi!

I'm trying upgrading my packages and I`m with a problem.

the comand
#emerge --sync

is ok en runing perfectly. but when the comand

#emrege portage

the error:

!!! ARCH is not set... Are you missing the '/etc/make.profile' symlink?
!!! Is the symlink correct? Is your portage tree complete?

is displayed.
what can i do , for stop wiht this error??

This should do it fix that error.
# eselect profile list
[1] something 2006
[2] something 2007
etc
etc
# eselect profile set 5

5 being 2007 desktop

then
# eselect profile list
[5] something 2007 desktop *

:D
This should do set it the 2007 desktop profile to active / on. Then try the emerge portage again.
Eselect is very nice and can even set the kernel type and other stuff same as above.

If you get a error of /etc/locales.build = lazy not removed yet = you can delete this file and then check /etc/locales.gen and make sure it has the language you want in there.

Also, I saw some posts elsewhere that the make.conf file isn't consistantly getting installed for 3.4f.

Check your /etc directory, and make sure you have a good make.conf file. If not, you can boot the live cd, and use the make.conf file in the /etc directory there.

Update Installer should fix the make.conf issue



moved to correct forum and please use Search feature of forum next time first as this has been addressed several times
