Where is democracy. [Solved]

Postby Red Knuckles » Tue Sep 04, 2007 16:41

In a fresh install of 3.4e AMD64 after running 'emerge --sync && layman -S' and emerging a few packages such as thunderbird, genlop, eix, and udept when I run 'revdep-rebuild' it wants to emerge democracy which results in:

Googleing 'Sabayon Linux media-tv/democracy' lead me to:

http://svn.sabayonlinux.org/rss.php?rep ... =1&isdir=1

which gives:

ERROR: Unable to find repository 'Sabayon Linux Overlay'

I'm trying to finger out how to pull the democracy ebuild from somewhere else an manually putting it in '/usr/portage/distfiles'???

Democracy has been renamed as Miro. Don't think the new version is in Portage yet:

Thanks. Mystery solved. They sort of left us hanging with no democracy and no miro either yet. Guess I'll have to wait. Democracy won't even open for me. Hope Miro will when it's available. Seems like we should have democracy packages still in portage as it is installed in 3.4e and as in my case revdep-rebuild is calling for it...

Well, if you follow the Install Notes link under the Gentoo logo on that Web page, you'll find that there is an unstable ebuild of Miro available for Gentoo: try at you own risk. Probably better to hang on a bit, as Miro will be put into the Portage tree at some point, for sure.
