Problem Upgrading to kde-base/kdm-3.5.6-r10 [Solved]

Postby DontPanic » Thu Jul 26, 2007 2:19

When doing my most recent world update, I pulled in an update from the Sabayon overlay for kdm. But I'm running into problems processing the update.

For some reason, emerge is downloading kdebase-3.5.6.tar.bz2, but it looks like emerge was expecting to download a kdm file.

Here's the dump:

Code: Select all
localhost ~ # emerge --update --newuse --deep --ask kdm

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild     U ] kde-base/kdm-3.5.6-r10 [3.5.6]

Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No]

I've tried unmerging kdm and re-emerging the package, but I get the same problem.

If I mask out the kde-base/kdm-3.5.6-r10 from the Sabayon overlay, it seems to work fine with the kde-base/kdm-3.5.6-r1 package from the gentoo portage tree.

Well I'll be damned. That worked.

It looked for all the world to me like it was confused about what file it needed to download, but rebuilding the digest fixed it.

That's the second time I've been tripped up by needing to re-digest.

From now on, I'll make sure and try that before I populate the forums.

No that is fine, if anyone else stumbles along a similar problem they might stumble on to this thread and discover redigest can help them out too.

I've had to redigest ebuilds, it happens.

redigest the ebuild

Then I need to learn more:

~# ebuild /usr/portage/media-video/manslide/manslide-1.5.9.ebuild digest
'/usr/portage/media-video/manslide/manslide-1.5.9.ebuild' does not exist.

~ # ebuild /usr/portage/media-video/manslide-1.5.9.ebuild digest
'/usr/portage/media-video/manslide-1.5.9.ebuild' does not exist.

How do I determine the exact ebuild for a package? I thought surely that would work.

Try this:

Code: Select all
locate manslide*ebuild

By the way, i found it in /usr/portage/local/layman/sabayon/media-video/manslide/manslide-1.5.9.ebuild

Hope this helps!

I ran into the exact same problem with manslide. I followed the advice of redigesting the ebuild, and yes, it did help. However, during the compile I got another error:

>>> Compiling source in /var/tmp/portage/media-video/manslide-1.5.9/work ...

The messages are partly in Swedish, but basically they just say that QGLWidget file or directory is missing. There is no package with that name, so any advice on how to fix it?
