how to update config files after portage update [Solved]

Post by bluecog6 » Fri Aug 03, 2007 3:56

I just installed Sabayon for the first time today. I have never used it (or Gentoo) before, so these may be silly questions. I just sync'd emerge, and it's telling me that there's a new version of Portage available, and I should 'emerge' it and then update ALL of my config files.

Q1: what sort of update is required for the config files?

Q2: how do I perform such an "update" to ALL config files? that seems ludicrous to me...

I would appreciate any responses, and please forgive my ignorance.

Thanks Wolfden!! I get it.

From reading, it looks like dispatch-conf is better to use than etc-update -- is this correct? Or I guess I'm asking - since I'm planning to use dispatch-conf - is there any reason I shouldn't?

Thanks again for any responses.
