Boot hang after 6th sence upgrade from 3.0 - 3.4a

Postby No.2 » Wed Aug 01, 2007 21:45

The it hangs consistently at "loading key mapping" on the verbose boot out put screen. This is just after "Starting acpid" and "Caching service dependencies"

The only error messages are warnings about some config file having modification dates in the future.

The DVD verifyed its md5 and burn and the drive is in good shape.

Not even sure you can upgrade from below 3.3 to 3.4a as before 3.3 there was old code / bugs that makes this a nightmare.

For the time bug that is normal just go into the live dvd again and then using this link below copy the time zone you are in to /dev/sda?/etc/localtime after mounting the hd.

You could have just backed up your /home/yourname folder and then do a clean install. Once inside the installed version then just login as that old user after copying that /home/yourname old folder back.

This is a way to get it working just not sure how correct . Might have to first "passwd -d yourname" to remove the password and then later recreate the password with "password --help" and the option + username.

Have to get info from someone that knows how to keep userfolder during upgrade.
