Long Mode Not Supported?

Postby n1nj4Lo » Mon Jul 30, 2007 21:27

I went to install the dvd SabayonLinux-x86_64-3.4a.iso and it said You cpu does not support long mode, Please try 32bit edition... What does that mean exactly? I thought with the x86 & x64 combo edition I'd be safe at installing it, But apparently not.... Plus I don't think I recalled seeing any 32 bit editions out and up for download the last time I looked... Heres my Pc's spec's if this helps out any with exactly what version I really do/would need: http://ca.geocities.com/n1nj4lo/hp_a420n_cpu.htm.... Thanks

x86_64 does not mean both 32bit and 64bit in one - it means 64 bit

You can't be looking hard enough if you can't find the 32 bit, check the release notes and mirrors and bittorrent. Both version are always released on the same date at the same time.

yes that is correct for the x86

the x86 is the architect, like 386, 486, 586, 686 - so when you see x86_64 it means it is pc version for a 64 bit and just straight x86 means exactly that, 32 bit pc version

Is there a 3.4a MiniDISC? I know I've seen a lot of 3.3 MiniDSC's, But I don't recall seeing a 3.4 on the mirrors I looked at/over...

Reason I ask is cauz I keep gettin errors with the Dvd version.... So I figured I'd try the MiniDISC, Also I've got a broadband connection so I could quickly download any extra stuff I wanted once Sabayon is completely installed and everything is set up....
