How can I connct to internet without the pppoe-start?

Post by pieroim » Sun Jul 01, 2007 18:30

With pppoe-start I can connect to internet (ADSL with ethernet modem). But in this manner I have to access to the console with root... Very complicated.
Is there a program that I can install on the tool bar, like KnetworkManager, to connct immediately to internet when I want and view the connection status? Like in Windows or in Mandriva..

Thanks

Hi, I'm Also wondering about how to get the connection without the pppoe-start, but there is more, everytime I want to connect ng pppoe-start, I need to input:

Code: Select all

# ifconfig eth0 broadcast 192.168.0.1
Until I knew, ifconfig is suposed to keep that conf, but every time I start my PC it turns to Broadcast 192.0168.0.255
How can I make it retain the conf?
