Sure, Yasts package management sucks like hell.

But Its config-modules are very nice (especially SAX, Modems printer and stuff).

Very very true. But i'm curious what the devs get us to use. I trust them to the job completely. :sunny:

I hate sax, it lulls the user into thinking that config is easy then, BANG! the user messes up and they never make it back

Thats why there is now sax2. Very little can go wrong there.

But xorgcfg still works :D

agreed, SAX2 rocks.

i accept the package management problems, but generally i have found YAST to be an excellent system administration tool.

i think yast absolutly rocks.. especially in the newest opensuse 10.2... it's fast and you can configure everything you need as a normal user and also as an administrator. i hope sabayons configuration center will be as functional.

does anybody now the status of it/how development goes on

is this a new config tool, or based on something extant such as YAST?

will it be as broadly competant for system admin as YAST, or will it be more restricted to certain admin tasks?

This is a new configuration tool. It will eventually be as broad if not broader than YAST.
