SubMenu in next release? Already made layout with pictures.

Postby johnnyhay » Sun Jan 07, 2007 12:16

Sabayon NEEDS Sub menus.
Please DEVS, if you can, put sub-menus! It makes apps easier to follow.
I took the time out of my day to make them but the only problem I ran into was you can't export the menus. So I just took a picture of them for the developers to follow.

Here's an example of what I did.
Internet Section

**Everything should be in the right group and in alphabetically order.
**Did this with Kmenu.

Main (K)Menu
Development
-----Web Development
-----------*Add OfficeOffice Writeer/Web
Edutainment
-----Languages
-----------*Add (gnome-dictionary)
Games
-----Arcade
-----------*Add Xblast (Bomberman-like game)
-----Emulators <-Add this new sub-menu.
-----------*Add epsxe <-Playstation Emulator
Addiction folder for it at /usr/games/lib/psemu/
-----------*Add gens <-Sega CD/ Mega CD, Sega 32x Emulator
-----------*Add GVBA (VisualBoyAdvance 1.7.2) <- GameBoy Advance Emulator
-----Toys
-----------*Add xeyes

I really love the whole idea, it makes it relatively easy to navigate and look for application more easily. Great work!

Sub-Menus are much better in terms of usability and "eyecandy" ;)

@ civill64

That may be right, but even kickoff uses the kde menu structure when you browse your programms. It can be really hard to simply browse all install programs to find something new. A better structure will help both the old menu and kickoff...

so submit the changes in bugs.sabayonlinux.org and check as an enhancement and we'll add it if it makes sense, too much "organization" to an extreme is also bad
