It pops.
Stupot, what sound card do you have? Is it Creative too?
I don't believe so.

Code: Select all

09:00.3 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD] Family 17h (Models 00h-0fh) HD Audio Controller
Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd Family 17h (Models 00h-0fh) HD Audio Controller
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 60
        Memory at fe800000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=32K]
        Capabilities: [48] Vendor Specific Information: Len=08 <?>
Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 3
Capabilities: [64] Express Endpoint, MSI 00
        Capabilities: [a0] MSI: Enable+ Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit+
        Capabilities: [100] Vendor Specific Information: ID=0001 Rev=1 Len=010 <?>
        Capabilities: [150] Advanced Error Reporting
        Capabilities: [2a0] Access Control Services
        Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel
        Kernel modules: snd_hda_intel
I don't think I should need to lower speex-float for my computer. I'm running a Ryzen 1800X, with plenty of CPU to spare. I'll poke around with other configurations. Sometimes it takes me a while to trigger the popping/cracking.

The pops are gone. Don't know what fixed them.

Hi, after the latest updates, that contained KDE stuff related only, the pops are back.

What Phonon backend are you using? I've been using GStreamer apparently. I'm going to switch to the VLC backend and see how that behaves for a while.

I have tried both, I have them both, VLC preferred now, still pops. It worked fine for a few weeks.

Ah ok. Just curious. I don't know if I can say for sure that the popping/cracking ever truly went away for me, since it seems dependent on resource usage and who knows what else. But I just had it occurring earlier today and right when I switched backends, it seemed to fix itself. It might have been the fact that it switched, and not what it switched to, or could have been some other indirect reason that it fixed the issue.

I have the same impression. At switching it is initializing, probably, so works apparently OK for a while.
It did not pop a single time until today too.

Hi, it becomes unbearable. Pops aggressively lately, after the latest updates.

Ha. Mine has also gotten worse this past week. Our symptoms are changing too consistently for it to be a coincidence, I think.

I'm sure there is an implementation causing it.
Sorry, I don't remember, do you have an USB sound card too?
