X problems after last update

Post by Freier Radikaler » Wed Jan 02, 2019 14:43

[email protected],

I just installed the recent weekly updates. As so often this results in issues...
This time systemd complains at boot time that not all Kernel modules could be loaded. "See systemctl status systemd-modules-load.services for details".

This shows:

Code: Select all

● systemd-modules-load.service - Load Kernel Modules
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/systemd-modules-load.service; static; vendor preset: disabled)
   Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Wed 2019-01-02 10:32:37 CET; 4h 15min ago
     Docs: man:systemd-modules-load.service(8)
           man:modules-load.d(5)
  Process: 1308 ExecStart=/lib/systemd/systemd-modules-load (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)
 Main PID: 1308 (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)

Jan 02 10:32:37 ThorsHammer systemd-modules-load[1308]: Failed to insert 'xen_acpi_processor': No such device
Jan 02 10:32:37 ThorsHammer systemd-modules-load[1308]: Failed to find module 'blktap2'
Jan 02 10:32:37 ThorsHammer systemd[1]: systemd-modules-load.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
Jan 02 10:32:37 ThorsHammer systemd[1]: systemd-modules-load.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'.
Jan 02 10:32:37 ThorsHammer systemd[1]: Failed to start Load Kernel Modules.
I think it doesn't load logind as well which then leads to a non functional KDE. SDDM shows up and you can login for Plasma but after the loading bar is at 100% it only shows your background image an resets itself after a while so you end up in sddm again.
Systemd also complains about the following:

Code: Select all

● systemd-modules-load.service - Load Kernel Modules
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/systemd-modules-load.service; static; vendor preset: disabled)

Jornalctl -xe shows:

Any ideas how to fix this? :?:

I just figured out that this seems to be my problem:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1 ... art-0.html

As soon as I generate the mentioned link (ln -s /var/run/dbus /run/dbus) for dbus and manually start the services it seems to work.

There was a warning about this on the Entropy notificationboard as a forum topic about this a couple o weeks ago. I guess you missed this info somehow.
