It's a little bit tricky, but I think, it is possible to upgrade pipelight yourself to 0.2.7.1. The point is to download a debian package here on a website first (64bit):

Code: Select all

https://launchpad.net/~mqchael/+archive/pipelight/+packages
Then you already have got the latest version of pipelight-plugin. You can unpack the deb package that way:

Code: Select all

ar -x pipelight-multi_0.2.7.1~ubuntu14.10.1_amd64.deb
Then you will receive a new zipfile with name data.tar.gz. Next step is simply open that zipfile with an unzip.
Then you'll see the structure of this package, which is similar to our Sabayon Linux tree. In our case, /bin, /lib, and /share are part of pipelight package.
My idea now is, to be root and copy the single parts from the package to the matching location (replace) on your system, where still is pipelight 0.2.3. But be careful! Anyway, it would be good to have a backup, and maybe you'll consider only to replace /usr/lib/pipelight/libpipelight-silverlight5.1
Nevertheless, as I've said here:
viewtopic.php?f=57&t=30612&p=171167&hil ... ht#p171167
this pipelight-plugin will only be supported while NPAPI is supported, means until Firefox 29 and Chromium 34!
So, be sure, that you (still) have installed one of both. I have made good experience with Firefox 29.
Hope to help you.

I posted a new thread in the bugs and DRM solution, but it seems that they would not build the new version so pipelight.

Nothing in that bug report says they aren't going to build the new version. The package maintainers are quite busy and normally filing bug reports for newer versions is frowned upon because the devs build them as time permits.

Although it doesn't address the Pipelight or Netflix Desktop issues, using Chrome Beta (available via portage) with a modified Chrome User Agent Switcher handles Netflix quite well without having to mess with Wine or Pipelight.
