Do you even have any link to a change log where this is mentioned?

I have used the news system of Sabayon wrongly, so I couldn't see old news items. Sorry for that.

But come on, did you read that systemd now gets a console implemented? Sorry but, this is ridiculous.
What comes next, systemd implements a Kernel?
Get rid of that B.S.!

andreios, if you want to use OpenRC instead of systemd, I suggest you install Gentoo. Alternatively, you could install either Arch or Manjaro and switch from systemd to OpenRC by following the instructions in their Wikis:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/OpenRC

https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php?titl ... to_systemd

Thanks but, mainly I use Gentoo already! I use it on my Desktop, Notebooks and Servers. Sabayon comes in to play some use cases where quick maintenance is needed and where It's not worth it to do a Gentoo setup.
I think Sabayon is a good distribution (except some problems with the installer on Live DVDs lately...), best part is it's based on Gentoo :D

My suggestion is to make openrc at least available. Yes that's more maintenance work for Sabayon, but sorry I no matter how hard I try I can't consider systemd seriously!

"Losing Control" aka, Unifying Distros (which most would consider a good thing).

"No scripts" How about easier to write init files with better unit testing coverage handled by systemd? Seems like a good thing to me.

"Linux-specific" Which doesn't bother most Linux users.

"Requiring an up-to-date kernel" That's progress for you. People won't be switching to systemd until they are using later kernels. I really don't see how this is an issue in the least.

Besides all of that, Sabayon just doesn't have enough dev support to be able to support OpenRC and systemd. Rail against systemd all you want, it's taking over and will be the init system for all Linux distros in the near future and will remain so for probably a good number of years. It will take a whole new init system that somehow solves a major technical problem in a better way than systemd does for it to be replaced.

...I don't know why I wrote all that, it's not like either one of us is going to change the other person's opinion. Damn internet got the best of me today, I suppose.

Well, I have nothing to do with the development of SL -- I just moderate the forums -- but I can tell you that you're flogging a dead horse. It won't happen. Tell you what: file a Bug Report requesting it, and see how quickly you are told to take a hike. ;-) However, I don't know if Fabio Erculliani is still maintaining the SL systemd-love overlay and/or whether it would still work in SL, but why don't you try it with SL and find out? I assume that's what he was including in SL when SL did support both OpenRC and systemd before he dropped OpenRC support.

Just between you, me and the gate post, here are my thoughts on systemd.

Do you even bother to read my blog post?
Or is here no one able to understand what is written there?

None of you seems to understand the argument. Even Fitzcarraldo's blog post seems to be proof for this assumption.
