portage tree full listing

Postby pinkytoes » Sat Mar 08, 2014 4:49

i found a page with a hyperlink to each part
of the portage tree on the gentoo forums
but when i did my first full update
there were a ton of cool sounding names

is there anywhere that has a full listing
or is there any way i can capture it next update?
i tried to scroll up and copy when it finished but
my terminal window only went as far back as the x11's

If you are referring to the list of packages, the Portage main tree has some packages that are not included in the Entropy list, and vice versa. If you want to redirect console output to a file so that you can look at the list later, use the tee command. For example:

Code: Select all
# emerge --sync | tee portage.txt

Code: Select all
# equo upgrade | tee entropy.txt

thank you for the tee command
i will definitely use it next time ^_^

Code: Select all
Number of files: 179,660 (reg: 153,991, dir: 25,669)
Number of created files: 177,223 (reg: 152,156, dir: 25,067)
Number of regular files transferred: 152,301
