Select another equo mirror? [Solved]

Postby deadDrift » Fri Feb 14, 2014 4:19

This is driving me crazy. I can not get equo to use any repository/mirror other than na.mirror.garr.it. I wouldn't mind except it is sooo slow here in USA. I've run mirrorsort and it selects another mirror but still uses na.mirror.garr.it. I've commented out the na.mirror.garr.it line in the entropy_sabayon-weekly file and somehow equo still used na.mirror.garr.it for downloading. Any ideas on how to fix it so I can use another mirror? Upgrades take hours to download 80 packages.

Thanks,
Mike

equo update shows I should be using sabayon_weekly:

I see you have very few mirrors ???
I found 5 mirrors in the USA.
just edit:
Code: Select all
nano -w /etc/entropy/repositories.conf.d/entropy_sabayon-weekly

and add:
Code: Select all
pkg = http://mirror.cs.vt.edu/pub/SabayonLinux/entropy/
pkg = http://cross-lfs.sabayonlinux.org/entropy/
pkg = http://mirror.clarkson.edu/sabayon/entropy/
pkg = http://mirror.umd.edu/sabayonlinux/entropy/
pkg = http://mirrors-usa.go-parts.com/sabayon/entropy/

at the end of the list.
Save, and finish off with:
Code: Select all
equo repo mirrorsort sabayon-weekly

Thanks for the reply. I used to have all those mirrors in the file. Somehow during the changeover to the new package manager my entropy_sabayon-weekly file ended up with only the five mirrors. I had been wondering if those US mirrors had gone out of service for some reason. The mirrorsort worked fine and equo upgrade is now running with one of the newly added mirrors. And the download speed is much improved!

I'm still wondering how equo was able to run using a mirror that was commented out in the entropy_sabayon-weekly file?
