Kernel panic at liveCD bootup

Postby Mr-Hide » Tue Jan 07, 2014 21:52

Hi, i tried these versions :

Sabayon_Linux_14.01_x86_GNOME.iso
Sabayon_Linux_DAILY_x86_GNOME.iso
Sabayon_Linux_DAILY_x86_Minimal.iso

It always fails at boot with this output :

I ran memtest+ : no error
I tried a livecd from another distro, it works perfectly.

Thanks :D

Did you burned it to a cd / dvd
or wrote the image to USB.
Also did you checked the md5sum, after downloading,
and / or, in case of a optical drive., checked the integrity of the burned disc?
See:
https://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?title=FAQ#burning_.2F_checking_the_.iso_image

Do you also remember if they are Weekly ISO's, or downloaded from Daily map...

Sabayon_Linux_DAILY_x86_Minimal.iso

I grabbed the same iso's you've mentioned with the same timestamp. (5/01)
official as well as daily,
and also wrote to USB, but i used "dd" instead and they booted flawless...
There could be something wrong with unetbootin (wouldn't be the first time),
but the iso's i downloaded are ok.

I tried today's daily, it still panics, but i have more output :

panic :

dmesg :

I checked the ISO's MD5sum and set up the usb stick with liliusb on Windows (i tried with dd also).

I have an up to date Sabayon (with kernel 3.12.0) on this machine, but it has been installed 5 years ago and it is now slow and buggy and messy.

Thanks

downloaded, and put on a stick using "dd"
Nothing wrong.
It just booted., so something must go very wrong on your side.
What hardware specs do you have?
I saw that /dev/sda3 which is unreadable.
Seems you have problems on accessing disks, too.

I would suggest to start your machine with any Linux distro that works for you.,
check your disks / partitions, and try to run a live dvd of Sabayon again.
