Bluetooth Mouse won't work with GNOME 3.10.2

Postby Commander » Sun Jan 19, 2014 20:06

Hi,

first day with sabayon :D only one little problem

gthink init.d # hciconfig -a

gthink init.d # hcitool inq
Inquiring ...
F0:65:DD:76:12:B0 clock offset: 0x0e51 class: 0x002580

The mouse is blinking and no more happens.

I use the latest gnome sabayon with all updates from today. Curiously in the gnome settings gui i can switch bluetooth "on" but nothing happen, back again in the menu and it's off again. Also i read the wiki and it says

Code: Select all
# /etc/init.d/bluetooth start

"Command not known"?! But i could start with

Code: Select all
/etc/init.d $ hciconfig hci0 up

Now i don't know what to do. Could anyone help me?

EDIT: I check a live usb stick with ubuntu. No problems with the mouse :-?

Thanks

Best Regards

the following applies to a Logitech mouse, but can you check if it also works on your mouse?
https://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?titl ... _USB_Mouse

or install net-wireless/blueman
good chance that blueman sees your mous, while blue devil doesn't.

thanks to patkoscsaba :alien:

i found a cli workaround.

Code: Select all
# systemctl start bluetooth

by the way. the arch wiki seems to be uptodate https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/bluetooth

it's still a bug with the GNOME GUI...so i opened a bugreport

Don't forget to enable the bluetooth service at boot time use the command:

Code: Select all
# systemctl enable bluetooth

The reason
Code: Select all
    # /etc/init.d/bluetooth start
didn't work is that is for OpenRC and you're using systemd. Now that systemd is the default, a number of wiki entries are out of date, still showing the openrc commands.

I enabled it. Without any error messages.

Code: Select all
systemctl

UNIT LOAD ACTIVE SUB DESCRIPTION
bluetooth.service loaded failed failed Bluetooth service
