Totem audio preview won't stop playing audio files! [Solved]

Postby eor2004 » Tue Jan 07, 2014 1:50

I'm using sabayon mate 64bit fully updated, everytime I place the mouse pointer on an audio file "totem audio preview" starts playing a preview of the music file, the problem is that it doesn't stop playing the audio file if I open it with another audio player like audacious, the only way to stop it, is if I go to "mate system monitor/processes", look for "Totem-audio-preview" and kill it, or log out of my computer!

Anyone knows how to make totem audio preview to stop playing audio preview if I open the file with another audio player???

Because an image or video is worth more than a thousand words, here's a link to download a video about the issue or bug, made using "recordmydesktop":

Did you closed the file manager or did it "just" disappear / crashed...
Can you check dmesg for segfaults?
dmesg | grep segfault

it sounds weird, but can you try this:
1, open a terminal, and become root.
2, edit /etc/pulse/client.conf:
Code: Select all
nano -w /etc/pulse/client.conf

3, change:
Code: Select all
; daemon-binary = /usr/bin/pulseaudio

into:
Code: Select all
; daemon-binary = /usr/bin/pulseaudio-bak

and see if it helps?
At least it should prevent caja from crashing.

As a alternative you could uninstall Totem:
Code: Select all
equo remove totem --nodeps --ask
