Black screen after GRUB

Postby ProjectOne » Tue Dec 24, 2013 22:59

Installed Sabayon 14.01 today and after loading it got a complete black screen. Not even a blinking cursor. Computer seemed to be completely unresponsive.

However, booting it from LIVE disc directly, it works perfectly fine.

UPDATE

It actually works, but I had to get 13.08 version for that.

I Think that is a problem related to incompatibility between ati-drivers and new kernel 3.12.

Well, I have ATI graphics card. So is there a way to solve it?

Today I was testing my new computer, and it seems that aplications randomly crash, but exceptions aren't caught. I will post a log file here when it chrashes next time.

You could try booting the LiveDVD with the kernel boot parameter xdriver=radeon in order to force SL to use the open-source Radeon driver instead of the closed-source FGLRX driver. If that still gets you to a working Desktop, launching the installer should result in an installation to the HDD that will use the open-source driver instead of the closed-source driver.
