SpinBase / Core

Postby stargate » Tue Nov 05, 2013 12:33

Hey,

I am thinking about to perform a sabayon installation where I had to do a little more by myself.
What is not open up to me in the election:
What is the difference between the base installation with spin-iso and the minimum or core iso ...?

Can someone explain it to me ...?

Thanks :)

Yes i read this article.
I understand the difference. If i want to try the minimal-iso for installation:
Where is the difference to a Gentoo-Installation?
Could i compare this iso with a netinstall-iso of debian?

If I'm not wrong the main differences between debian netinstall and sabayon core is that you can build your system in a couple of hours, in gentoo you have to wait even a couple of days compiling software but you get pure gentoo, sabayon has precompiled software and have it's own tools like equo and rigo and the repositories have more applications and are more up to date than in gentoo, IMO debian is a little more stable than sabayon but like I said before sabayon repositories have more applications and are more up to date than in debian.

Thanks for the information
But something confuses me:
Does the installation of Sabayon Core that it is no longer Sabayon, but a pure Gentoo? :?:

Use then Sabayon Core not base, in base installation you'll have a few things preinstalled, like you said, if you want to do a little more by yourself then Sabayon Core is the way, but if you're a newbie be prepared to read a lot and ask a lot of questions. :|
