phase terminated status 36096 please report it [Solved]

Post by dunsurfin » Mon Jul 08, 2013 16:38

SL KDE AMD64 fully updated running kernel 3.9. (system D)
Doing quite a large update today and there were three packages to remove. I chose the equo remove path and the phrase

"QA: Cannot run phase postremove, Phase terminated with exit status: 36096. Please report it.

I don't know if this is the correct place to report it or what logs, if any, are required. I'm sure someone will put me right. :)

Here are the packages and messages:

I don't think it's anything serious. I've rebooted and had no trouble. But, I always check my opengl setting after an nvidia update and, sure enough, it had been set to xorg-x11 instead of nvidia. If you have nvidia graphics then I suggest you check this before rebooting.

okay ... will try it now ... if you don't see me again online in a few minutes something is wrong with this upgrade (?)
I am using KDE and always upgrading like this:

Code: Select all

equo update && equo install equo entropy sulfur rigo -a && equo deptest -a && equo upgrade --purge --configfiles --multifetch 10 -a && equo deptest -a
So i will reboot now ... i have only this system ... "no risk no fun" :bom:

Hi,

I think it could be a serious problem in some situations, but it depends on packages being upgraded/installed.
Yesterday I was having the same issue (postinstall and postremove couldn't run in many packages) while doing full upgrade - there where packages for new gnome 3 :) And after reboot gdm didn't show up... (just cursor in top left corner). Xorg log wasn't showing anything special. In gdm log there was info about missing key in gsettings (maybe this key should be added in postinstall? I don't know...)

I saw this messages (phase terminated status 36096...) after updating entropy from 205 to 207.
When I switched repo from sabayonlinux.org to sabayon-weekly - and upgraded the system again - first entropy was downgraded to 205 (for the first time 'phase terminated' messages were still there).
But after entropy downgrade all other updates were fine.

So I think it's an issue in new entropy. Or maybe I was doing something wrong?

Don't worry about it. It doesn't harm. It should be fixed with Entropy 208.
