New install; how to manage LVM

Postby hobocaver » Tue Jul 24, 2012 17:26

Hi

I installed Sabayon 9, G, 64bit. I love it; learning new stuff is good.
At the install, I was set up with 500mb for mbr, rest went as LVM.
Root on that is about 55gb and rest of 750gb disk is /home (I hope).
When I run gparted it only shows what disk is, not sizes, etc.
Gparted doesn't handle LVM, so if I wish to change size and add
other LVMs to this group, What do I need to know/do?

I realize this is a large question; any resources from forums appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for pointing out those wikis; truly informative.
Now I just need to understand them.

To expand my question; I used fdisk and found that vg_sabayon_lv_home 687gb
This is the lv I wish to shrink, make new lv, etc.
However, there is a swap partition, lv , at the end of disk.
Does anyone have ideas or suggestions; I am not
a total noob, but am not great yet at CLI work.

Thanks
