Fresh install Sabayon 8 amd64 K
Using Sulfur loaded limbo repo and updated equo (accepting other depended packages) closed sulfur
Opened sulfur updated to kde 4.8 by selecting all packages for kde-base and kde-misc (accepting depended packages)
Updated remaining packages
Desktop ASUS M2N-MX SE Plus, AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 5200, 4 Gb RAM, GeForce 9500 1GB
This system is used as a multimedia system and is connected to a 42" Plasma TV
Did not crash when inserting or removing usb drive but did crash on log out (shutdown - restart) after update to kde 4.8 but before updating remaining packages
Once remaining packages had been updated then crashed when inserting or removing usb drive
Notebook HP C700 Intel(R) Celeron(R) M CPU 530 @ 1.73GHz 2 Gb RAM,GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller
Installed Sabayon 8 amd64 K on to a Maxtor 250 GiB external drive (on first boot had to change root=UUID to root=/dev/sdbx)
Crashed when inserting usb stick and/or when mounting or safely removing partition from Maxtor 250 GiB external drive
Notebook HP CQ61-311AX, AMD CPU M320, 4 Gb RAM, Radeon HD 4300 512 MB
Using the Maxtor 250 GiB external drive
Inserting usb stick made X crash going back to login screen
Other tests with main desktop (system from my first reply)
Desktop ASRock 880G AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1055T, 4 Gb RAM, GeForce 9500 1GB
Removed add on usb 3 card still had crash when inserting usb drive
Disabled internal usb3 still had crash when inserting usb drive
Removed GeForce 9500 and enabled ati radeon 4300 crashed when inserting usb stick
Reset bios to defaults (still crashed)
Cleaned lint and dust from all fans and heat sinks reinserted GeForce 9500 crashed when inserting usb stick
Four different machines all crashing when inserting a usb stick
Had no luck with disabling notifications in systray (if that was what lhuser was referring to)
