Wolfden sorry but you have don't understood my problem.

After updates gnome session (or maybe x server) goes in crash when the sistem start (the screen start to flash from mouse waiting cursor to black screen) BEFORE!!! the kernel update.

I have installed the kernel AFTER the problem to try to solve it!

It's not my fault (ok i'm not so able to use linux) but i know that when a kernel update a user MUST update modules and drivers.

And the problem it's the same even in kernel .39 nor in kernel 3.1-r2 (grub has been updated correctly).

Sorry for my wrong explanation but i'm Italian and sabayonino know it! :D :D :D

@Rev

When you upgraded the kernel , did you make sure select it at boot ?

If you did't upgrade any modules about that you have 2 problems :

1 - Kenrel set is not complete

2 - Gdm session doesn't work

Solve These or run older kernel

post here varuìious logs : ~/.xsession-errors ; /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /var/log/rc.log

press ctrl+alt+F1

If you can't copy any logs use/install app-text/pastebin to paste logs to pastebin.com

Example :
Code: Select all
 # pastebin /var/log/rc.log
# http://pastebin.com/XXXXX

copy last link (this is the link where pasted the logs)

Also in the future if you run into an issue, don't go changing kernels. Resolve all issues before doing a kernel change.

Ok,

I've installed sabayon-limbo repo and I've done an update.

This time the screen become black with the white cursor flashing...

When i try to start gdm i got and error of comunication of dbus (i'm not at home so this evening i try to install it) but i have no error about gnome session.

Maybe we found the way outside this black hole... =)
