Large chunk of missing hard drive [Solved]

Postby liam.lah » Thu Dec 15, 2011 1:49

Hey all

I just managed to get my sabayon working again by re-installing all my packages (had a problem with gnome not starting)

Anyway, i was ready to stick my backed up data back on sabayon from my previous distro.

Though it appears i am missing a large chunk of my hard drive.

I have a 500gb hard drive, spllit 250/250 between ntfs and Ext4.

Image

Disk analyser says i should have 230gb free which should be correct, computer says i only have 41gb, and if i try to copy my backup over, it says i am short on space.

Im not even sure where to start looking to figure it out.

Any ideas?

This was solved by micia on the IRC

LVM appeared to be the problem, according to this fdisk log www.pastebin.com/S4Z5k5Jf , but i went back and repartitioned my drive manually with gparted, and reinstalled, it now works.
