Web browsing screwed up after yesterday's updates!

Postby Richlion » Thu Nov 17, 2011 21:10

Hello,

after updating the system with 427 updates last night I cannot launch Firefox, Chromium, nor can I launch Thunderbird client.
I am writing from Konqueror, these are some errors:
Code: Select all
@Richlion2 ~ $ thunderbird
/usr/lib64/thunderbird/thunderbird-bin: /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.5.3/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.15' not found (required by /usr/lib64/thunderbird/libxul.so)
@Richlion2 ~ $ firefox
Couldn't load XPCOM.
@Richlion2 ~ $ chromium
chromium-browser: /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.5.3/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.15' not found (required by chromium-browser)

What is happening? With every update there seems to be a serious glitch, it is becoming irritating and far to often.
Can this be fixed somehow?

I fixed mine using info at: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gcc-upgrading.xml
If gcc-config -l shows a * against version 4.5.3 and 4.6.2 is listed then just run
gcc-config n

where n is the number shown in square brackets in the list from gcc-config -l
Then just log out and back in again (same effect as running source /etc/profile)
Hope this helps

Should I change the repo with the sabayon-weekly.org?

I use the sabayon-weekly.org and avoided this, I thought the weekly was introduced so the average user would most likely miss these situations. (I may be wrong)

Sorry but XBMC after upgrade doesn't work, almost for me. It runs, but when I clic "s" to see the exit menu xbmc brokes, and xbmc can't reproduce videos too.

Anybody else?
